Track and field stars will start the new year running with the much-anticipated PUMA School of Speed Series hosting five action packed meets between 22 January 2020 and 29 February 2020.

Headed by the World’s Fastest Man, Usain Bolt, the PUMA School of Speed Series was launched in 2016 with the goal of identifying exceptional young South African athletes who believe that their future is #ForeverFaster.

“The PUMA School of Speed’s goal is to identify South Africa’s exceptional talent,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.  “The Meets are fast-paced and action packed from start to finish.  As part of the 5th year celebrations we are excited to welcome the University of Mpumalanga (Mbombela / Nelspruit) as a new venue in 2020.”

“The PUMA School of Speed Series is a highlight on our calendar,” says PUMA Marketing Director Brett Bellinger.  “We are proud to be able to give future stars a platform to compete against SA’s best, while further perfecting their skill.  We are very excited to welcome back Gena Löfstrand as the Vice Principal of the PUMA School of Speed in 2020.  Gena has been a remarkable brand ambassador.  We look forward to working alongside her for another season.”

“We recently welcomed five junior track and field stars, Garrick Rees, Miandi Van Staden, Kayla van der Bergh, Dalan Oliphant and Lehlogonolo Ramokgopa as PUMA Future Stars for the duration of 2020,” continues Bellinger.  “These five athletes caught our attention after the 2019 PUMA School of Speed Series.  In addition to representing the brand, they will have access to PUMA’s elite running ambassadors who will be on hand ready to offer guidance on and off the track.   In 2020 we invite all track and field stars to prove that they have what it takes to follow in the footsteps of these Future Stars.  Show us that you are #ForeverFaster.”

Miandi van Staden (Potchefstroom Gimnasium/North West Province), loves the atmosphere at the PUMA School of Speed Meetings.  “I am proud and honored to represent PUMA.  It’s a great brand and I love wearing it.  My focus is on 100m and 200m.  My goal for 2020 is to represent South Africa at the World Athletics U/20 Championships.”

According to Dalan Oliphant (Wesvalia High School/Klerksdorp), the PUMA School of Speed is a great platform for any athlete to be able to compete against the best in South Africa.  “My focus will be on the 100m and 200m.   My goal is to become the U/17 SA Champion in both these events while I am still U/16.”
