The PUMA School of Speed is excited to welcome middle-distance runner Gena Löfstrand as the Vice Principal of this premium school’s talent identification programme for the second consecutive year in 2020.
Headed by the World’s Fastest Man, Usain Bolt, the PUMA School of Speed Series was launched in 2016 with the goal of identifying exceptional young South African athletes who believe that their future is #ForeverFaster.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure working alongside Gena in our search for SA’s best track and field stars at school level,” says PUMA Marketing Director Brett Bellinger. “A remarkable athlete, she embodies competitive spirit and skill. We are proud to have her as both a PUMA ambassador and the Vice Principal of the 2020 PUMA School of Speed.”
“I feel extremely lucky to be a part of the PUMA family,” admits Löfstrand. “PUMA has given me the support necessary to do what I love on a daily basis, which is the chance to chase my sporting dreams. The brand, to me, screams strength, power and individuality. I love the PUMA aesthetic and I wear the brand with pride.”
“The PUMA School of Speed Series brings together athletics fans, and future champions from all over our country,” continues Löfstrand. “It gives athletes the opportunity to showcase their talent at a well-supported, world class event. It’s something for young athletes to set goals for and work hard towards. The atmosphere at the PUMA School of Speed Meets is what makes it so special. It’s fun, exciting and inspiring. I’m super grateful and very excited to have the opportunity to be the Vice Principal again. It’s such an honor. I loved every moment last year. I loved meeting so many amazing young athletes and left every event feeling inspired and motivated by the talent. I can’t wait to see what’s in store at the PUMA School of Speed this year! It’s events like this that keep athletics alive. I’m proud to be working alongside PUMA to help grow athletics in South Africa.”
When asked about her plans for 2020, Löfstrand had the following to say: “I’ve just recovered from an Achilles tear, which I struggled with all of 2019. Now that I’m back on track and pain free, I’m determined to get into shape and run some fast 800m times later in the year.”
